Behind the Scenes Extension Resource Guide [see demo application] What a fun project! Cooperative Extension offers many resources to aid our extension agents such as videos, lesson plans and educational exhibits. I built an online ordering system for these resources. Agents can search the robust search engine with any combination of keywords, format, content and audience. A simple click will add any resource to the order form. This was very well received by the agents and is frequently used. Live version still in use! Student Advisement Sign-Up Application By request I created a a complete online advisement tool for faculty and students. Each semester instructors are allowed to create and edit their own schedule. Students then sign up for appointments on the web according to their advisors schedule. This application has become so popular that other departments within the college are requesting it. Live version still in use! Web-based Evaluation System for Agents* [see demo application] FCS Extension agents are required to keep track of the results of their classes and training. I developed an online system that allows the agent to create class evaluation sheets by choosing from a pool of questions provided by the Extension Program Specialists. The end result is a printable questionnaire to be passed out at the beginning and/or end of programs. Spanish translation is also available. *This application was the model that won Extension a nationwide grant project to be completed in 2006 in conjunction with the University of Indiana. Online Surveys [see sample] One service I frequently provide is online surveys. These are especially popular with the various research grants our college receives. Results are stored in a MYSQL database and transfered either by online report or are sent as an Excel file. FCS - User account sign-up and update This was my first project at FCS. Being a C programmer and having this project plopped on my lap, I certainly showed that I can learn under pressure. I programmed and implemented the sign-up procedure for new accounts in the college and for updating of existing accounts. This includes all the personal and departmental information for our users. Some other applications that rely on this are our email distribution lists, online phonebook and machine database. Live version still in use! Restructure/Redesign Computer Services Area of Website When I started working at FCS, the Computer Services website was difficult to navigate and unattractive. Through meetings with the rest of the IT team and various members of our college, I did a complete re-structure and re-design of the site. I created tutorials and added a searchable FAQ section to aid personnel. Graphics were done in Photoshop and Fireworks; photos were taken with a Sony Mavica Digital Camera.
